The Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) co-organized the ITU-KCC Asia-Pacific Regulators’ Roundtable, which was held at the Ritz-Carlton Seoul on October 14-15 as part of a policy research project of the Korea Communications Commission or KCC.
Under the theme of “Protecting consumers in the digital age”, about 50 high-level officials of broadcasting and telecommunications regulatory agencies from 25 Asia-Pacific countries gathered together and discussed ways to ensure consumer protection in the broadcasting, telecommunications and convergence sectors as well as current challenges and international cooperative measures.
The Regulators’ Roundtable was followed by three days of the International Training Program (ITP) between October 16 and 18, in which some 60 working-level officials of regulators in the region participated.
The ITP, which was held under the theme of “Realizing smart society,” served as a meaningful opportunity to share international experiences in the broadcasting, telecommunications and converged ICT sectors among participants with focus on Korea’s development experiences and lessons learnt.
