The Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) was visited by the delegation of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT), National Information Technology Authority (NITA-U) and Uganda Communication Commission (UCC) from Uganda on October 29 and had discussions on the role and responsibilities of KISDI as a Korea’s ICT policy research institute as well as the two countries’ ICT policies and current regulatory issues.
With the objective of benchmarking the Korean ICT industry and policy development, the Ugandan delegation visited not only KISDI but the National IT Industry Promotion Agency, National Information Society Agency, Korea Internet security Agency during their visit to Korea. At KISDI, the delegates were given a presentation about the role, function, operation and organizational structure of the independent policy research institute in the ICT field and had a Q&A session. In addition, a wide range of policy and regulatory issues including spectrum allocation process, strengths of the Korean postal service, regulations on new ICT services, the procedure and system of ICT-related legislation and policy implementation, as well as the role KISDI plays in these areas were extensively discussed
