  • Policy Advisory to Support the National ICT Strategy Formation for Ghana

The International Cooperation Research Division of the KISDI hosted the invitation consultation KISDI meeting and expert seminar of “National ICT Strategy-Making and Supporting Process (Year 1)” in the Video Conference Room (2nd floor) at the KISDI on Sept. 14 (Wed.) 10:00 a.m. (Jincheon, Chungbuk).

At the invitation consultation meeting conducted from Sept. 9 (Fri.) to 18 (Sun.) in 2022, a total of five ICT-related civil servants including Mr. Samuel Antwi-Gyekyi, the Minister of the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation (MoCD) in Ghana participated as part of the policy advisory to support the national ICT strategy-making process in Ghana. During this period, the Ghana delegation visited related institutions to experience the current status of ICT and cybersecurity in Korea. The detailed program was also prepared to provide consultation/ advisory on national ICT policy [ICT for Accelerated Development (ICT4AD)], which is currently promoted by the Ghana government by sharing our knowledge and experiences through the seminars held.

Sang-won Ko, the head of the International Cooperation Research Division at the KISDI, welcomed the delegation to the visitation meeting, and presented the ICT industry development and digital economic status in Korea. He also mentioned that this invitation consultation program will be a place for an opportunity to discuss measures for continuing cooperation with Ghana.

During this invitation consultation period, the Ghana delegation also visited ICT and cybersecurity-related institutions and participated in seminars such as Seoul Women's University, KISA, KISDI, National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), National Information Resources Service, Yonsei University, SK Telecom Ubiquitous Museum, NEUBILITY, Global Knowledge Exchange & Development Center, etc. The Ghana delegation will participate in a field study/ tour of digital economy policy and technology-related sites in Korea through the invitation consultation program, and share expert knowledge and discuss main issues. The second local consultation/ advisory and final workshop will be conducted by reflecting the main issues raised in this invitation consultation, with a proposal to be derived for Ghana's national ICT policy (ICT4AD) through a systematic approach.
