The International Cooperation Research Division in KISDI kicked off the KISDI visitation meeting and expert seminar as part of the invitation consultation of “the cooperation of technology policies to promote the competition of digital and telecommunication services in Laos” at the Meeting Room (4th floor) in KISDI (Jincheon, Chungbuk) on Nov. 2 (Wed.) 11:00 a.m.

During the invitation consultation, which was conducted from Oct. 29 (Sat.) to Nov. 5 (Sun.) in 2022, six civil servants including Director General Mr. Keonakhone SAYSULIANE, from the Ministry of Technology and Communication in Laos participated as part of the cooperation of technology policies to promote the competition of digital and telecommunication services in Laos. During this period, the Laos delegation visited related institutions to benchmark the model of competition promotion and development in digital and telecommunication services in Korea, and shared the related knowledge and experiences through the seminar hosting. The detailed programs were provided for the Laos government to get detailed advisory on the national digital economy masterplan and goals 2021–2025, which are currently promoted by the Laos government.

President Ho-yeol Kwon at KISDI, welcomed the Laos delegation at the visitation meeting and presented the topic of digital transformation in Korea and current 5G policies. He also mentioned that this invitation consultation program will be a place for the opportunity to discuss a measure of continuing cooperation with Laos.

During this invitation consultation period, the Laos delegation visited institutions in relation to ICT and the digital economy including KISA, Korea Communications Agency, Seoul Digital Foundation, Bank of Korea, Naver, Samsung SDS, Bithumb Korea, Global Knowledge Exchange & Development Center, etc. The Laos delegation will take a field tour of digital economy policy and digital transformation and cryptocurrency-related sites in Korea through the invitation consultation program, and share expert knowledge and discuss the main issues. The final workshop will be conducted in the future by reflecting on the main issues raised in this invitation consultation, with the proposal on the national digital economy policies in Laos to be derived through the systematic approach.
