The Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) held inauguration ceremony for its 15th President, Sangkyu Rhee, on April 1 (Tuesday) at the KISDI Grand Conference Room.
In his inaugural speech, President Rhee put forward the following measures to ensure the institute's development and greater contribution to the country as the nation’s unique and leading research institute in the field of information, communication and broadcasting.
First, the KISDI must thoroughly prepare for the AI era moving beyond the Fourth Industrial Revolution of digitalization. Second, Rhee emphasized that the institute should actively use various data and experiences they have accumulated to 'derive the best solution for the present' and 'prepare and lead the future'.
Third, Rhee said he would strive to attract and cultivate talented personnel to enhance the institute’s research capabilities and create a conducive research and working environment for employees. He also pledged to expand communication between the private sector, government and the academia and promote collaborative research.
Finally, Rhee concluded his inaugural speech by calling on all staffers to accept the results of internal and external evaluations and make concerted efforts to make up for the shortcomings of the institute.
The National Research Council (NRC) under the Prime Minister's Office held its 372nd board meeting on March 27 and appointed Professor Sangkyu Rhee of Chung-Ang University's School of Economics as the 15th President of KISDI.
Rhee has served as a KISDI research fellow, director of the Economic Research Institute at Chung-Ang University, auditor of the Korea Association for Telecommunications Policies, and non-executive director of Korea Asset Management Corporation. He will serve a three-year term (March 31, 2025 to March 30, 2028).
