KISDI to Hold Forum on Key Policy Agendas in the AI and Digital Sectors on December 18

“Identifying key policy agendas to strengthen AI and digital competitiveness”
Five research areas: AI industrial economics, AI social institutions, telecommunications and spectrum, broadcasting and media, and international cooperation

The Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI, President Sangkyu Rhee) will hold a forum on key policy agendas in the AI and digital sectors on December 18 at the Grand Hall of the Walkerhill Hotel in Seoul.

At the forum, KISDI will present key policy agendas intended to support the effective implementation of the new government’s AI and digital initiatives. Leading domestic experts in AI and digital policy are expected to participate in in-depth discussions on these agendas. KISDI will outline priority policy tasks across five research areas—AI industrial economics, AI social institutions, telecommunications and spectrum, broadcasting and media, and international cooperation—and propose policy directions to strengthen national AI competitiveness.

In the AI industrial economics session, SUNGOK KIM (Fellow, KISDI) will present on global AI competition strategies and response measures. HYEON SOO KIM (Director, Digital Platform Economy Research Division, KISDI) will present on policy directions for fair competition and user protection in the AI and digital ecosystem, including measures to promote fair competition in platform ecosystems.

In the AI social institutions session, Jung Wook MOON (Director, Digital Society Strategy Research Division, KISDI) will present on trust governance for an inclusive AI society, outlining roles and policy priorities for government, industry, and citizens.

In the telecommunications and spectrum session, Sunghyun NA (Director, Telecommunications Policy Research Division, KISDI) will present policy directions for telecommunications in the AI era. In the broadcasting and media session, Junseok KANG (Director, Media Policy Research Division, KISDI) will present policy agendas for promoting the broadcasting and media industry in the era of global OTT and AI.

In the international cooperation session, JOONHO HWANG (Director, Digital International Cooperation Research Division, KISDI) will present on policy research aimed at strengthening Korea’s international standing in the AI era.

Following the presentations, a panel discussion chaired by Kim Jeong-eon (Executive Vice President, KISDI) will bring together experts from government, academia, and industry to discuss current AI and digital policy issues and the effectiveness of proposed policy agendas.

The forum will be open to the public through advance registration via Event-us, and it will be livestreamed on the KISDI YouTube channel.
