Organizational restructuring and personnel changes at the Korea Information Society Development Institute

KISDI has implemented an organizational restructuring effective January 1, 2026, to strengthen its AI policy research capacity and support Korea’s advancement as a leading AI nation.

The restructuring reorganizes the previous structure of seven research divisions into four research divisions and one center and establishes eight groups under the divisions to concentrate research capacity in core policy areas.

Through this restructuring, KISDI has newly established the Artificial Intelligence Policy Research Division and the Digital Policy Research Division to comprehensively analyze the impacts of AI-centered digital technological development on socioeconomic structures. The institute plans to strengthen its provision of research findings and analytical support for policy formulation and decision-making processes at relevant ministries, including the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Communications Commission.

Following the restructuring, KISDI’s research organization consists of the Artificial Intelligence Policy Research Division (AI Economic Policy Group; AI Social Policy Group), the Digital Policy Research Division (Platform Policy Group; Digital Industry Policy Group), the Telecommunications and Spectrum Policy Research Division (Telecommunications Policy Group; Spectrum and Network Policy Group), the Media Policy Research Division (Media Industry Analysis Group; Media Strategy Group), and the International Cooperation Center.

KISDI stated that the restructuring will enhance the specialization of AI and digital policy research and strengthen its alignment with key policy issues, enabling the institute to further expand its role as a core policy research organization supporting government decision-making in a rapidly evolving technological environment.
