The Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) visited the Peruvian Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) from Saturday, December 9 to Friday, December 15 (local time) to advise Peru on establishing a strategic plan for its national communications policy.
The advisory workshop was attended by KISDI President Kyoung-yul BAE, Director Dong-min LIM of the Center for International Cooperation Research, and a number of domestic experts on the Korean side, and by Vice-Minister of Communications Carla Paola Sosa Vela, Director-General Fiorella Rossana Moschella Vidal, and other MTC officials on the Peruvian side.
Under this policy advisory project, the two parties have set nine topics in government-wide areas such as technology, regulation, infrastructure, and international cooperation as part of the effort to establish the Strategic Plan for National Communications Policy for the Peruvian MTC, and KISDI’s delegation has advised the latter on the establishment of detailed strategies. The nine topics include the following: ▲infrastructure building through spectrum; ▲sharing of infrastructure; ▲allocation of subsidies; ▲optical network project; ▲regulatory sandbox; ▲review of the economic obligations of operators; ▲social value of the Internet; ▲international technical cooperation; and ▲cooperation within the ANDEAN community.
"We are grateful to KISDI for its great help in establishing a national strategy for reducing the ICT gap between Peru's urban and rural areas,” declared Vice-Minister of Communications Carla Paola Sosa Vela.
“Both organizations will continue cooperating in the ICT field,” KISDI President Kyung-yul BAE pledged. The delegates from KISDI also visited the local Korean embassy and the offices of KOICA and KOTRA to discuss cooperation measures.
