On February 24, KISDI held a kick-off ceremony for the 1st AI ethics policy debate at the Central Post Office building in Seoul.

At the 1st AI Ethics Policy Forum launched today, the ‘AI Ethics Self-checking Table’ and the ‘Guidebook on Developing Trustworthy AI’, both of which were discussed at the seminar held in November of last year were disclosed. Taking into consideration things like the development of content to be used in teaching ethics to the entire population and the form of AI technology development, international trends, and actual cases, the forum will identify new ethical issues and suggest a potential direction for South Korea's AI ethics policy in the future.

To increase efficiency and the quality of the discussions, the forum will consist of three subcommittees, and in-depth discussions will focus on the following topics: ① Subcommittee on the proliferation of the AI ethics system (Subcommittee Leader: Moon Jung-Wook, head of KISDI’s Center for AI & Social Policy), ② Subcommittee on building the technological foundation for securing AI reliability (Subcommittee Leader: Director Cha Soon-il of the Telecommunications Technology Association), and ③ Subcommittee on strengthening AI literacy and ethics education (Subcommittee Leader: Byun Soon-yong of Seoul National University of Education).
