International Cooperation Research Division

The Department of International Cooperation Research analyzes the key agendas for international cooperation in the digital economy and carries out cooperation projects. Its tasks include international cooperation with international organizations such as the ITU, OECD, APEC, ASEAN, and AIBD, trade negotiations for the WTO and FTA, consulting projects for developing countries, research on development cooperation issues, inter-Korean exchange and cooperation programs, as well as research projects on North Korea.


The Department is divided into three groups: International Organization Cooperation Group, International Development Cooperation Group, and Center for ICT Trade-South and North Korea ICT Cooperation Research.

			The International Organization Cooperation Group analyzes the key issues dealt by ICT-related international organizations including OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) and ITU (International Telecommunication Union), develop strategies and supports cooperation projects with multilateral agencies. It also supports Asia-Pacific cooperation efforts in the field of ICT led by APEC(Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation), ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations), APT (Asia-Pacific Telecommunity), and UNESCAP (United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific), and participates in discussions at broadcasting-related organizations such as AIBD (Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development).The International Development Cooperation Group undertakes ICT consultation and cooperation programs for partner countries including developing countries according to the annual International Development Cooperation Implementation Plan developed under the Framework Act on International Development Cooperation and develops strategies for ODA.

			Center for ICT Trade-South and North Korea ICT Cooperation Research analyzes agendas, develops strategies, and initiates follow-up measures for bilateral and multilateral trade negotiations on broadcasting and ICT-related issues at WTO and FTA talks and various inter-governmental fora. It also undertakes researches on the ways of cooperation and integration of South and North Korean ICT infrastructure and services system to prepare and facilitate unification of South and North Korea.
