KISDI and the Committee for Development and Convergence of the Media and Content Industries (Co-Chairman: Prime Minister Deok-soo HAN and Seoul National University Professor Emeritus Nak-in SEONG) held the 2nd Open Forum for the Development and Convergence of the Media and Content Industries at the Main Conference Room on the 10th floor of Seoul Central Post Office on Thursday, November 23, 2023.

The Committee for Development and Convergence of the Media and Content Industries, launched under the Prime Minister’s Office last April, has collected opinions from the related industries and ministries and held general committee and subcommittee meetings to prepare policy measures for developing domestic industries and improving their international competitiveness. The 1st Open Forum was held on October 23.

* (Committee members from the government) Prime Minister, Minister of Office for Government Policy Coordination (secretary), Minister of Science and ICT, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Chairperson of the Korea Communications Commission (five members in total). (Committee members from the private sector) Experts in media and content from industry, academia, and research institutes (fifteen members in total).

This 2nd Open Forum was held to explain the main contents of the measures for improving the regulation of media and contents, to support the global expansion of the Korean media and contents discussed by the committee, and to gather opinions from all professions.

The forum was chaired by Professor Jae-wan MOON from the Law School of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (Chairman of the Legal Affairs Subcommittee) and Professor Dong-gyu SEONG from the Department of Media and Communication of Chung-Ang University (Chairman of the Industry Subcommittee), while presentations were given by committee members Professor Seong-yeop LEE from the Graduate School of Technology Management of Korea University and Professor Cheon-il PARK from the Department of Media Studies of Sookmyung Women's University.

The Committee for Development and Convergence of the Media and Content Industries plans to announce the Development Plan for Media and Content Industry Convergence (tentative name) by the end of this year after gathering social opinions and holding committee discussions, including open forums.
