The Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) held the second Workshop on Spectrum Management Policy together with Kyrgyzstan’s State Communication Agency (SCA) on 24-28 August, 2014 in Bishkek and Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.
A consultative group of Korean experts including Dr. Seo Bo-Hyun of KISDI, Head of the group, Park Gwang-mun, Senior Researcher of the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Yoo Chul-jong, Director of the Central Radio Management Office (CRMO), Hwang Joong-yun, Vice President of the Korea Federation of ICT Organizations and other high-level officials met with Chairman Chyngyz Bektashov and Vice Chairman Abdisamat Sagymbaev of the SCA and discussed laws and policies regarding spectrum management, electromagnetic radiation human exposure standards, and the establishment and operation of a spectrum management system. Both sides also talked about ways to continue bilateral cooperation in spectrum management.
The consultative group also had a meeting with Korean Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Kim Chang-gyu and, during the meeting, Dr. Seo introduced the background and progress of the consultation program and highlighted that cooperation between the two countries had been strengthened since the summit talks and ICT was included as one of the five focus areas of cooperation. He also added that the Kirghiz government had been showing a great interest in working with Korea, especially, for ICT development.
