The Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) held a kick-off meeting and expert seminar with the Kazakhstani delegation, who was invited to Korea as part of the Spectrum Management Consultation Project for Kazakhstan, on August 24 at a KISDI conference room.

The visit between August 23-29 was attended by five Kazakhstani experts including Mr. Bakytkhan Yermekbayev, Chief Expert at the Committee of Communication, Informatization and Information (CCII) and Ms. Aigerim Mambetalina, Leading Expert at State Technical Service (STS). The program KISDI had prepared for the delegates was designed to give them opportunities to learn about Korea’s knowledge and experiences in spectrum management by visiting several institutions and facilities responsible for spectrum management in Korea and meeting with Korean industry experts and scholars.

In the kick-off meeting, Dr. Seo Bo-hyun of KISDI welcomed the Kazakhstani delegation and stated that the visit would provide a great opportunity for the two countries to enhance the understanding of each other’s spectrum policy and spectrum management strategies as well as to discuss ways for further cooperation.

During the seven-day visit, the delegates are going to visit the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Daejeon Radio Management Office, the Satellite Radio Monitoring Center and other related facilities to see how Korea manages and utilizes its spectrum resources and discuss related issues. KISDI plans to visit Kazakhstan for the final workshop, which will reflect the issues raised and discussed during the visit, and continues to offer systematic and constructive advice for more effective spectrum management in Kazakhstan.
