The Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) held a kick-off meeting and expert seminar with the Cambodian delegation, who was invited to Korea as part of the Information Security Policy Consultation Project for Cambodia, on August 24 at a KISDI conference room.
The visit between August 24-28 was attended by five Cambodian officials including Mr. Prak Phalla, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Cambodia and Mr. Chea Manit, Director General of the General Department of ICT at the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPTC). During the visit, the Cambodian delegates went to see several Korean organizations and facilities responsible for information security in Korea and met with industry experts and scholars to learn about Korea’s knowledge and experiences.
In the kick-off meeting, Dr. Kang In-su of KISDI welcomed the delegation and introduced the one-week program KISDI prepared for the delegation. During the following expert seminar, Professor Lee Hee-jo of Korea University delivered his presentation titled “Analysis of the Survey Result on Cambodian Information Security”.
The delegates also visited the National Computing and information Service (NCIA), Cyber Security Training and Exercise Center (CSTEC), Korea Internet and Security Agency (KISA), Igloo Security, AhnLab, SK Telecom Network Control Center and other organizations in the field of information security, and had hands-on experience in Korea’s ICT trends at Incheon U-City, Samsung Innovation Museum and KT LTE Innovation Center.
The invitation provided the Cambodian delegation with opportunities to learn about Korea’s know-how in information security and to benchmark its best practices, while enabling KISDI to survey the needs of the delegation in terms of information security policy consultation.
KISDI has been conducting policy consultation programs in the field of ICT and broadcasting for developing countries and major partner countries for over a decade. The Information Security Policy Consultation Project for Cambodia was selected as one of this year’s programs and KISDI established a consultative group of experts and has been providing policy advice to Cambodia.
