KISDI Holds Reading Discussion with Dongsung High School as Part of AI and Digital Era Education Program

The Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI, President Sangkyu Rhee) held the fifth session of the "KISDI–Dongsung High School Education Program" on September 3 for students at Dongsung High School in Chungbuk Innovation City. The session focused on a reading discussion.

The "KISDI–Dongsung High School Education Program" is a participatory educational program designed to help students independently explore social issues in the AI and digital era and consider possible solutions from a policy perspective. The program consists of 10 sessions, with Sessions 1–3 featuring special lectures by KISDI researchers and Sessions 4–6 dedicated to reading discussions.

Session 5 followed the book café format used in Session 4, allowing students to freely exchange opinions. Session 4 focused on "Autonomous Vehicles" and examined how AI technologies may change the transportation environment. Session 5 addressed "Job Competition with Machines," exploring changes in industries and employment resulting from advances in AI technologies.

Students exchanged views on how advances in AI and automation technologies may affect existing occupations and future job opportunities. They also gave presentations connecting their career interests with AI technologies. The presentations covered how AI could be used in their prospective fields and how they might respond proactively to future changes. Through these activities, students had an opportunity to consider their career paths in greater detail.

A participating Dongsung High School student said that exchanging views on AI with classmates had been a valuable experience and expressed interest in the upcoming sessions.

KISDI plans to continue the program with Session 6, which will focus on "Changes in Art in the AI and Digital Era."
