Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI, President: Bang Suk Ho) held an international joint symposium on June 24 (Fri, 18:00~20:30) at the Orchid Hall of Plaza Hotel under the theme of ' Ultra-broadband Smart Networks for a Smarter Society' with Korea Association for Telecommunications Polices (President: Prof. Chang Suk Gwon at Hanyang University).
At the symposium, the newly emerging issue of net neutrality and measures of securing the next generation network investment resources were discussed.
KISDI had an in-depth consultation with Michel Segenthaler (Chief of Strategy & Business Division), Prof. Rob Fieden at Pennsylvania State University, Prof. Kwon Young Sun at KAIST, and other experts on Europe's broadband network, measures of next generation network investment promotion, and the current conditions of mobile communication network. Active discussions followed among panelists at the general discussion session about Korea's suggestions of Post-net neutrality policies.
This symposium has great significance as it worked as an opportunity for experts at home and abroad to share various views on future net neutrality policy-making and broadband network establishment. In this regard, KISDI plans to continue its role as a leader in international broadcasting and communications policy-making efforts.
