The Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) invited Advisory Director of Direccion Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (National Directorate of Communications) of Uruguay, Juan Piaggio, and experts of Uruguayan communications institutions to Korea from August 28 to September 2.
This invitation, as part of Consultation on Digital Convergence Development Policy, was made to observe Korea's digital convergence and broadcasting and communications development, and enhance the effects of consultation through discussions with experts. In particular, visits to communications institutions including KT, SKT, TBS, MBC, Samsung Electronics, and Digital Pavilion provided a great opportunity to see Korea's advanced communications technologies such as Smart TV, WiBro and IPTV.
During the visit of Uruguayan delegation to Korea, ICT seminars were held four times at KISID conference room. Director Sangwon Ko of Convergence and Future Research Division, Senior Researcher Jaeuk Ju of Telecommunications Policy Research Division, Prof. Sangyong Lee at Hanyang University, and Jinki Kim at Korea Aerospace University presided the seminars on ICT market developments and major policy issues and worked for the successful completion of this consultation by accompanying Uruguayan delegation during their visits to ICT institutions.
KISDI has, thus far, completed two on-site consultations in Uruguay and one invitation consultation in Korea, and the final meeting is scheduled to be held in Uruguay in early November.
