KISDI President Dong-Wook Kim met with Korea Internet Corporations Association (Kinternet) President Joo-Man Park on November 28, 2011 and discussed Internet-based social and economic development.
President Park said, during his visit to KISDI, “In a fierce global competition, Korean Internet companies are struggling to overcome the obstacles of regulations at home and cultural discount abroad.” He added “these companies are making efforts to double innovations in businesses through close cooperation transcending difference in their sizes and development stages.”
President Kim said, in response, “The development of social media such as Facebook and wide use of smartphones is a reminder of venture capital boom at the early stage of the Internet.” “Therefore”, he emphasized, “For the development of the next decade Korea needs to promote mobile Internet culture, in which is Korea is lagging behind others, and become a leader in the global market.”
President Kim added that this meeting should serve as an opportunity to encourage cooperation between KISDI and Kinternet for Internet-based social and economic development.
