The Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI), on 31 January, 2012, discussed ICT market prospect and cooperative measures in regulatory policies with Botswiri Tsheko, Chairman of Botswana Telecommunications Authority and his delegation who visited Korea to deepen the understanding of Korea's ICT development, communications regulations, and e-government.
Dr. Ha-yun Kang, Director of Communications Trade Research Center, welcomed Botswana delegates and introduced the role and organization of KISDI. And Dr. Sang-won Ko, Executive Director of International Cooperation Research Division, made a presentation on Korea's broadband market and its major issues which cover major content and services in the market and operators' preparation for convergence.
Dr. Kuk-hwan Jeong, Executive Director of Planning and Coordination Office, and Dr. Jong-hwa Lee, Executive Director of Telecommunications and Spectrum Research Division, made a presentation on the direction for ICT development, broadband network market and related policies and then had a Q&A session with the delegation.
Chairman Botswiri Tsheko, CEO Thari G. Pheko, and delegates, in the Q&A session, asked for advice on Botswana's e-government projects based on Korea's e-government development. Discussions followed over the current status and policies of the telecom market, including Korea's broadband network establishment and privatization of the telecommunications market, and cooperation measures between the two countries.
This visit of Botswana Telecommunications Authority to KISDI was made to learn Korea's case as part of its benchmarking project for establishing broadband network, development strategy and e-government.
