The Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) invited Nepalese ICT experts, including MoIC Joint Secretary Surya Bahadur Raut and Under Secretaries, and head engineer of Nepal Television, to Korea from June 10 to 16 for policy consultation on Nepal's broadcasting-communications convergence.
This visit was prepared to enhance the effectiveness of consultation project by providing seminars, interviews and study visits so that Nepal can learn Korea's broadcasting-communications services and policies, and have a productive discussion over Nepal's regulatory framework on broadcasting-communications convergence.
The Nepalese consultation team had seminars and interviews with ICT convergence experts in Korea and visited ICT related institutions including KBS, TBS, KT Media Center, Digital Media City, SamSung and SK corporation PR centers in order to study Korea's ICT convergence and explore Nepal's policy direction.
This seven day study visit program provided an opportunity to learn Korea's advanced technologies and knowhow, strengthening a cooperative relationship between Korea and Nepal and promoting Korea's status as ICT powerhouse.
KISDI has been carrying out Consultation on Regulatory Framework in Response to the Convergence of Telecommunications and Broadcasting in Nepal as part of KCC projects. Consulting group, composed of convergence experts, conducts ICT industry analysis and study visits for Nepal, and on-site consultation is also planned to lay down necessary regulatory framework on communications-broadcasting convergence and road maps.
