The Postal Management Research Center of the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) held the 23rd KISDI-SRPA/SRI Workshop in Seoul and Jeju from September 9 to 12, 2012. This workshop, an annual meeting held by alternately KISDI and SRPA/SRI in an organizer's country, started in 2000 as part of efforts to promote research exchanges, based on MOU concluded at the 1999 Beijing Congress of Universal Postal Union (UPU).
The workshop was attended by Korean representatives: every member of the Postal Management Research Center including JinHa Jeong, Executive Director and Chinese counterparts: Chen Liping, Director of SRPA, Wei Jingjing, Researcher at SRPA, and Ma Wenqi, Research at SRI.
The Chinse representatives met with KISDI President DongWook Kim, visited Korea Post, Korea Post Information Center, Central Post Office, and attended the workshop.
In the workshop held at KISDI and Jeju Hyatt Hotel, various topics and agendas on postal business in Korea and China were discussed. Dr. YongSoo Lee at Postal Management Research Center made a presentation titled 'CRM Strategy for Young Customers' over new growth engine strategies in response to aging customers and declining volume of mail delivery, which attracted a great interest from Chinese representatives. Dr. JaeSeog Park presented on 'Valuation of Korea Post's Maintaining of Public Service', introducing methodologies of valuating postal networks and customer awareness. Wei Jingjing, Researcher at SRPA made a presentation on China Post's strategies of developing new packet delivery services. Ma Wenqi, Research at SRI presented on 'Platform for Postal Service' and introduced MOT cases and new services.
This workshop provided a precious opportunity to share current issues of postal business in Korea and China and to deepen their understanding. This meeting is expected to pave the way for developing both countries' postal business through continued cooperation in research activities.
