The Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) was visited by the delegation of Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) and ICT Research and Human Resource Development Agency on November 16, 2012, and discussed how to narrow the urban-rural information divide and develop ICT promotion policies.
This visit, which was made at the request of Indonesian MCIT, was prepared to exchange ideas and views with Korean experts over the Indonesian government's policies of narrowing the information divide. KISDI President DongWook Kim warmly welcomed the delegation headed by Director Gati Gayatri of MCIT and sent his message that this visit would pave the way for promoting cooperation between the Indonesian government and KISDI. Ms. Gayatri said, expressing the gratitude for warm welcome, that she expects to learn from Korea about reducing the digital divide and promoting ICT development and to enhance cooperation with KISDI.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. SangWon Ko, Dr. JongHwa Lee, and Senior Researcher JungWook Moon, and Ms. Siti Meiningsih of ICT Research and Human Resource Development Agency made a presentation on Indonesia's digital divide-narrowing programs and the delegation exchanged opinions with KISDI experts. Dr. SangWon Ko made a presentation on Korea's ICT industry, R&D, and IT Village Program designed to reduce the information divide in Korea.
The Indonesian delegation said this meeting was a meaningful opportunity to learn Korea's successful experience in the digital divide and ICT policies and expressed its hope for continued cooperation with KISDI and participation in KISDI consultation project for the next year.
