The Seminar on Allocation of 2.5GHz TDD (Time Division Duplex) Frequency Band was jointly held by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (MSIP) and the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) at the conference room of KISDI on January 20, 2014.
This seminar was organized to introduce a draft plan for 2.5GHz frequency band allocation for LTE-TDD service, which had been prepared by a government task force, and to seek views and opinions of field experts and various stakeholders.
The seminar was opened by the presentation of Heo Won-Seok, director of Spectrum Policy Division at the MSIP on the government’s plan for the allocation.
In the following panel discussion, with Prof. Kim Nam as the moderator, Prof. Choi Yong-Je of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Prof. Park Duk-Kyu of Mokwon University, Dr. Wang Jae-Yong of Korea Mobile Internet or KMI, Hyun Kwang-Lip, vice president of Internet Space Time or IST, Dr. Choi Jae-Ik of ETRI, Dr. Yeo Jae-Hyun of KISDI, Kim Hyeong-Kon, director of the Korea Telecommunications Operators Association, and Jeong Ji-Yeon, head of the Consumers Union of Korea participated and actively discussed the subject.
The views and opinions shared at the seminar by the academia, consumer groups and candidate companies of the fourth national telecommunications operator are expected to contribute to the finalization of the government’s plan for the 2.5GHz band allocation.
