On September 4 (Monday) at 10 AM, KISDI held a kick-off meeting (a small conference room on the 4th floor of the KISDI building in Jincheon, Chungcheongbuk-do) and an expert seminar to start the Serbia Fixed Line Broadband Policy Consultation Meeting, a consultation-by-invitation event.
This invitation consultation meeting, which was held from September 3-9 2017, was part of a larger policy consultation service project for the Serbian fixed broadband industry. The Serbian delegation attending the meeting was headed by Vice Minister Irini Reljin, the Ministry of Trade, Tourism, and Telecommunications (MTT), and two other Serbian civil servants who are specialists in the telecom industry. During their trip to Korea, the Serbians visited telecom-related organizations to directly experience Korean fixed broadband and the state of its ICT industry. A seminar with a detailed program was organized to share Korea’s know-how and experience in telecom with them, and to allow them to seek advice on fixed line broadband policy.
Lee Jong-hwa, the head of the International Cooperation Group, started the kickoff meeting by welcoming the Serbian delegation. He told them that, through the invitation consultation program, both countries could increase their understanding of each other's fixed broadband sector, and expressed his hope that the program would serve as an opportunity to discuss ways of collaborating on a continuous basis.
As part of the invitation consultation program, the Serbians visited fixed broadband and ICT related facilities such as the TV White Space System in Jecheon, the Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) U-City, Klive, KT Olle Future On, the KT Innovation Center, the 2017 Smart City Innovation Summit Asia, and the Samsung Innovation Museum (SIM), as well as attending the seminar. Through the invitation consultation program, the Serbian delegation also visited industry sites and shared knowledge related to Korea's fixed broadband policy/technology, and discussed important issues. A final workshop was scheduled to take place in order to discuss the issues raised during the invitation consultations. The workshop drew up proposals about Serbia's fixed broadband policies using a systematic approach.
